In a Nutshell
My role is to connect San Diego employers with middle and high schools to educate students about the careers available to them, the skills they need to enter the workforce, and how to use their abilities, interests, and values to make decisions about their future.
Background
Alex leads the SDCOE College and Career Readiness Team’s employer engagement and work-based learning coordination with San Diego schools. He is particularly interested in how humans identify their purpose and using that information to better prepare students for life after high school. Prior to SDCOE, Alex worked in operations for a foster family and adoptions agency contracted by the LA County Dept of Children and Family Services. He then joined San Diego’s local workforce development board, the San Diego Workforce Partnership, as a grant writer and later their STEAM program manager. He holds a B.A. from UCLA and a Master’s in Public Policy from USC. In his free time, he enjoys soccer, backpacking, reading, and playing with his cat.
