MATILDA McALEENAN
SPECIALIST MATERIALS ENGINEER, McLAREN RACING
After studying Physical Natural Sciences, and graduating in 2014 with a Masters in Materials Sciences, Matilda began her career as a Materials Engineer at McLaren Racing Formula 1 Team. She had previously undertaken a summer placement at McLaren Racing, investigating the potential of DMLS as a manufacturing method for car parts. She is the Materials Group’s Reliability Champion, and works with
engineers and mechanics to make the car as robust as possible, and able to achieve its full potential. In this capacity, she has been to several Grands Prix to document issues that arise and to provide assistance in the form of immediate solutions.
In addition to working within the Materials Group she has worked with the Strategy Team on race weekends, and learnt new CAD skills in the Design Team.
Aside from her technical role, she is an active STEM ambassador, and a founding member of Driven Women, McLaren Group’s first women’s network (co-chair 2017- 2020)
