Why is STEM Education Important?
STEM education refers to the integration of the four subjects into a cohesive, interdisciplinary and applied learning approach. This isn’t academic theory—STEM education includes the appropriate real-world application and teaching methods. We provide our girls with 21st century skills for future success.
STEM education goes beyond school subjects. It gives a skill set that governs the way we think and behave. Merging science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, STEM education helps us to solve the challenges the world faces today. The ability to think critically and challenge standards is the basis of innovation.

“Club Athena opened my eyes as to how many STEM jobs are available for women,” is a comment you will hear our Athenians (members) say often.
Our STEM education club for girls in middle school and high school has a transportation theme yet prepares our members for a professional career track in the specialties of invention, design, engineering, fabrication and business.
Whether they want to be a designer, lawyer, engineer, doctor, or entrepreneur, the career paths for girls are limitless. They just haven’t been exposed to the possibilities….yet.
As an extra-curricular club, inclusion in this program benefits girls pursuing STEM careers in any industry by giving them real-life experience, allowing them to better understand and innovate for the future. Our 14 Education Tracks provide the essential life skills and career development needed to succeed.
We are creating a safe space for young girls to try new things – a solution-based THINK TANK for Teenage Girls – to expand their knowledge, and be themselves.
We are racing to build a better future. After all, how do you know if you are on the right career track until you get your hands dirty?
