BRENT CURRY

SOFTWARE DESIGNER, BIKECAD

Brent Curry holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, in Ontario, Canada. In his University co-op studies, Brent sought out work in the bicycle industry. His first work term was with Vitus Cycles in France. He went on to work at Syncros in Vancouver, British Columbia, Southcott Pty in Adelaide, South Australia, and Dekerf Cycle Innovations in Vancouver, British Columbia. Along the way, Brent was exposed to several different approaches to bicycle design from manual drafting to solid modeling. After graduating from university, Brent developed a simple bicycle design program which he used to design and build a few mountain bikes and tandems. He also built an unusual fleet of novelty bicycles which became the main attraction of a bicycle rental business he operated part time for 10 years. Brent’s early bicycle design program eventually caught the attention of Serotta Bicycles in New York State. Brent worked with Serotta to customize the program for their needs. It became apparent that the tool could be useful to all custom framebuilders. So in 2004, Brent started selling BikeCAD Pro to custom framebuilders, bike shops and bicycle fit specialists and has continued to expand the functionality of the program to this day.
